WIP Wednesday - July 3rd Edition

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

Well, I did not get to post anything last week! This summer has been kicking my butt and taking up all my sewing time! The girls have only 5 1/2 weeks left of summer break though, so I am soaking up all the time that I can get with them while they are here! I did get a day in the sewing room this week, and wow, it really felt good to sew again! I forget sometimes how much I miss it! Here is what I have been working on:

This is the 9th block in the Skill Builder BOM club/QAL that is being hosted by Pile o Fabric. It is a litte different, I did not add the two circles that go in the middle... I am not afraid to try them... it just was not my cup of tea lol. So here it is, sans circles!

Then I started on the 10th block, but got as far as piecing together the paper piecing pattern after printing it. I need to sit down and work out which fabrics I want to use and where... I might go for a graduated color look...we shall see! The pattern kinda scares the crap outta me lol. It will be my fourth attempt at paper piecing, the third being the block above!

Then I pieced together the first row of  triangles ... there was A LOT of swearing and seam ripping involved. lol I keep at it though and after a 5 to 27 minute break I persevered darnnit! Then, I promptly decided to set it aside and work on it when I have more patience lol.

Last, but not least I got the backing finally for my dresden runner, so I basted it and it is ready for quilting :) Hopefully I will get to work on it soon as I really love how it is turning out! The pic is awful, it was nighttime by the time I was done lol

That is what I have been up to! How about you?!

On a side note I wanted to say... If I stop by your blog, leave a comment and a link back to my blog, it is because I am sharing in a hop with you. I copy and paste my blog link (not the whole comment) but I never ever ever leave a comment that is not genuine and directed specifically at someone. So, just...ya know, so you know :) I do not like when I see people do that either so I just wanted to be on the up and up!

With that said, link me up if I haven't already stopped and commented, I would love to share and see what you have been up to as well! :) Happy Wednesday!

  1. I love your Skill-builder block; such striking colors. Isn't it frustrating to rip out paper-piecing, with those tiny stitches! Sometimes the best thing to do is know when to take a break :)

  2. I love how the Skill Builder block looks without the circles. It looks cleaner and crisper, if you ask me. Nicely done.

  13. I hear ya on the no sewing time. I'm like you I rather spend that time with my kids than to be cooped up. Summer is the time to get out. Besides fall will be here all too soon anyway! Also thanks for being real about the link too.

  21. Quilting can be frustrating sometimes can't it, but then it's our successes which motivate us to keep going. Enjoy the rest of your girls' summer break.
