Seriously... March 4th edition of WIP Wedesday? How on earth did it get to be March already! I am completely unsure. It really is true, as you age the time just seems to go by so much quicker. Not that I am ancient or anything lol but I can tell the difference from when I was in my 20's that is for sure. So far, being 40 is not so bad, though :)
This week was pretty busy and fun! Here is what I have been working on:
I am working on a Cotton and Steel mini for the Cotton and Steel Mini Quilt Swap taking place on Instagram. I am not allowed to mail this before June 12th I think so I am setting this aside for now to piece together later. I like the way the mini blocks came out, though. I used a mini 3in block pattern from Wombat Quilts. I am so appreciative when people share patterns as not all of us can afford to buy them whenever we want.
This is the finished mini/swap I made for my LPS Disney Craft Swap on Instagram. Someone commented on how they felt inferior because they could not send that many extras... I do not always either but I lucked out at the dollar for half of the things there. It is not about how much you send, think... be creative. Not everything has to cost a lot. This will have a separate post and I will share better pics of the mini.
I won a giveaway on Instagram of green scraps from Fort Worth Studio Fabrics, and I started a ticker tape table topper for my mom. I was going to make it for myself, but all those beautiful greens are just screaming my mom's name as it is her favorite color! I had always wanted to try a ticker tape style and it is certainly fun and easy. I love how it is coming out. I should be able to bind it today.
That's it for me! I am hoping to come up with an idea for the Viva La Villains Swap, and learn how to draft the pattern I want to do for it. I might pull out my selvedges and do some more blocks that I am collecting as I am over flowing in selvedges right now lol. Also I am going to the Sewing and Quilt Expo in Lakeland, Florida this Friday so I am looking forward to shopping and finding some new inspiration there!
Have a great week :)

Your mini-log cabin quilt is going to be WONDERFUL!
ReplyDeleteLove those greens and your mini made me smile - love Monsters inc!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilts!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's a lot of work. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLovely work on the mini blocks!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the extras should be just that - optional extras and not seen as obligatory. As lovely as it is to receive extra treats, I would never judge a swap partner if they sent no extras! I would rather put my effort into making the best mini quilt or mug rug or whatever I could for my partner and leaving off the extras completely if time (and money) were short. You are right: it is not about how much stuff you send.
For reasons that will remain obscure, I love the fact that you like ticker tape style.
I'm new to your blog, I came over from Granny Maud's Girl to see your Polaroid blocks. You now have a new follower! I'm very curious about your Monsters Inc. mini, could you tell me where I can find the pattern? My very pregnant daughter wants to decorate the nursery in Monsters Inc and unfortunately there is no fabric to be had. This is even better!
