U R Priceless Blog Hop and a GIVE-A-WAY!

Hi everyone, welcome! I am so excited to be a part of this blog hop today! If you have never been here before, welcome! My name is Tanyia. I am 37 and a stay at home mom of three amazing albeit annoying girls lol. My blog is about the amalgamation of crafts and things I do to keep me from having to do housework basically lol.

I wanted to say I am so happy I came across the Sew We Quilt blog, hosted by Katherine and being a great cheerleader...especially since it was my first blog hop like this ever! I am so ready to find another hop that interests me and try again as well :)

Also, thank you to Madame Samm for giving us each not only the pattern but seriously amazing step by step directions that even I could follow! lol. I have never ever made a coin purse before and was seriously intimidated but look at that preview pic above! I had to try! :)

Anyway, this whole experience was fun... well, now looking back on it anyway! lol

Here is what I made:

I made 4 of them and my daughter (the adult one lol) made 2. There was many a thumb pricking during the matching up of the WAY uneven edges, there was many a swear word during the trying to figure out how on earth to sew that wierd shape without sewing it to itself lol, and there was a broken needle...or two during trying to figure out how hard I could yank that thread to really secure it to the frame! lol. If you could have seen us you would have laughed hysterically.

However when I was finished I was so enamored with the finished product that I went out and bought more frames, and am thinking of doing more even now! I am totally in love with how adorable they are. Now, if only I could figure out how to hide that dang knot at the end.

These are the first two I did! See why I needed to do a couple more!I absolutely love them. The green one is going to my mom for Christmas and the red one to a friend.

These two I made for my girls and I did different insides so they could tell them apart ... other wise there would be WW3 if one thought the other had hers! *eye roll* I love how happy and vibrant these are and I used scrap for these which I absolutely love that I could do! (Never mind the yellow thread poking out of the one on the right lol there was a bit of a snafoo there)

These two are the two my daughter made. I think she did a great job, it was her first time as well. She kinda hated it while doing it and I keep urging her on and when she was done she LOVED them and said she wants to make about a hundred more! lol

Now, I have  an adorable charm pack of Mary Engelbreit fabric with ONE HUNDRED squares that I would love to share with one of you. I will send anywhere, US or International. All you need to do is leave a comment and that will enter you. I will draw a winner on the 14th, the day after the hop ends, if you are a no-reply blogger PLEASE leave your email or I will need to give it away to someone else.

SO much fun! Thank you SO much for coming by commenting, it means a lot to me! Also if you decide to follow me, let me know, I would love to follow you back and get to know you as well!

Here is the hop list so you can keep on hopping!

  3. totally needed a laugh and hot diggity if I didn't get more than a few. Myriad might be a better adjective. The WW3 comment really hit home--sibling rivalry at its best! The purses you and your daughter made are very sweet! The polka dot with purple interior is my absolute favorite!

I'm so enamored with these little purses I really want to sew up about 100 of them LOL.. okay well probably not that many, but I'm thinking of quite a few different things that they would be great for, and wonderful gifts..so I'm looking to get the clasps for a great price.

  31. Lovely fabric choices. These are addicting to make because they are so cute. As for hiding the knot, you just pop it inbetween the layers like you do when you are hand quilting. Too late to fix it now, but for any future purses that you might make you hide the knot that way. Here is a site that show you how to do it: http://annamariahorner.blogspot.com/2010/03/stitch.html

  32. I laughed as I read your post--I so related to the pricking of fingers and swear words. Yet, I kept going because I was so hooked on making them. Your little coin purses are definitely priceless!

We all enjoy the special times with have with our kids. It was so hard for me to find these clasps and here you are saying you are going out to buy more. Lucky you :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I also had trouble hiding the end of the thread. I dabbed a little glue on it then used a pin to push it up and under the frame. A little pressure and it usually stuck under there. Usually! Fingers crossed for the draw!

  67. These little purses are precious and indeed, "priceless," Madame Samm sure picked an appropriate title for the Blog Hop. At first I wasn't that excited about coin purses, but "hopping" sure has changed that! My sister and I are taking a "road trip" to Hobby Lobby this afternoon as one just opened up and I'm anxious to see what it's all about. Maybe they'll have coin purses! I would love to win some ME fabric, she's a great designer and little purses made from her fabric would make great stocking stuffers. From California, thanks for sharing .

  104. How fun that both you and your daughter made these wonderful purses together! All the purses look great! (Like Wendy mentioned, pulling your knot through is a great answer, but even if your knot seems too big, it can be sewn at the "top", in the seam of the lining and the outside fabric, under where the frame would be able to "cover" the knot).

Thank you for a chance to win your exciting giveaway! I love Mary Englebrite and how fun to make something with these.

    Blessings & Aloha!
