I want to thank Liz of Simple Simon & Company for the adorable dress tutorial she posted. She made the cutest little maxi dress for Gracie, I am guessing she is her cute little daughter but I am new to her blog so forgive me if I am wrong. In any case Gracie is a cutie patootie and so is the dress and the tutorial seemed like something even I could do! HERE is the tut link!
Well, I was a bit wrong...apparently even I can NOT in fact do it! Somehow I took the simplest dress tutorial, screwed it up, made it more difficult, fumbled my way through, and then kicked it in the arse and conquered it in the end! Yay me! Wooohoo! (Insert victory dance here)
Here are the before pics, my daughter bless her heart, in fact is NOT pregnant, thank the Lord. She picked out the shirt and the fabric for the dress and I think she looks adorable but that dress makes her look about 25 pounds heavier, poor kid. She tried to pretend she liked it, but even she was not too pleased! lol She was very kind, though, bless her heart.
So I decided to buy some elastic, and cinch in the waist, like so:
This definitely helped out, it pulled the middle and gave her some definition. It is definitely not as adorable as the original tutorial, but I am not much of a clothes sewer some I am happy and Becca was thrilled... but compared to the original who wouldn't be lol.
I may just try another one some day soon. The oldest wants one know as well. I told her yes, but we shall see lol.
Happy Monday, what have you been up to?
