Wow, I guess is it Wednesday again! I have made a good deal of progress this week, but my back is starting to feel it, so I might have to lay off a little this week. I have been trying to make sure I take plenty of breaks here and there though. So far so good. I think the worst was basting my plus quilt last night, I had to stretch out in bed and rest it for a bit after that. If you have back trouble... what do you do to help while maintaining the ability to sew? I would love any tips or thoughts!

First up is my table runner, I finished her :) Yay! This will have to go in to another post of it's own as well for the quarterly finish along, but for now, here it is!

If you follow me on IG then you saw pics cause of course I just had to show it off early :) Other than that I made the back and basted my plus sign quilt, oh and I had a helper!

and last but not last I did a little test go of a new technique I had been wanting to learn for ages! I am so excited, I think I literally squealed when it came out right! I can not wait to go buy more white fabric as I am out and actually start a real project... I think this will be one of those ones you work on here and there between other things! But, OMG, yay! I did it!!!!

That is it for me, for this week, y'all! What have you been up to?! I can not wait to hop around and see!

  2. I don't have back trouble but it can get pretty sore/uncomfortable with sewing sometimes. I have a cushion on my sewing chair to help a bit of posture which always help (I'm terrible with slouching) and I've actually started basting on a table top rather than crawling around the floor which makes it a lot easier.

I love the backing for the plus quilt!

  4. What a fun table runner! I love cathedral window quilts--it was my first (mini) quilt I made with my mom when I was about 12. We sewed in the windows by hand, but now I want to try it again with the machine. Yours looks great!

  7. Great finish on your table runner. It's lovely. I'm also glad that I'm not the only one with a helpful cat. Though, mine has started to sit directly between me and the sewing machine when I am trying to sew, and that will just not work. I also love your cathedral window work. I've done a pillow case, but that has been my only foray into the process. It takes an awful lot of fabric, but I love the end result.

  8. I had to click over from Let's Bee Social because of your blog title - I have the same disorder : P And I love the new technique you learned - it's one I've seen and admired, but have yet to try. Looks like you nailed it, Tanyia!

  11. What fun you're having--lots of bright colours and happy quilts! As for bad backs, I do exercises every hour or so to take the stress off the lower back.

  12. Love your colors too! They are so bright and fun. The cathedral window with the white is really stunning.

  13. Nice work on trying something - there is no better feeling than when you nail it! Love your table runner and look forward to having a closer look when it stars in it's own blog post :) I don't have any back problem, but I tend to baste on a table top so I'm not crawling on the floor Ms Midge gives a good explanation of how she does it at the end of her post here (http://msmidge.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/an-isosceles-puzzle-tips-for-making.html) It may help save your back a little :)

  16. Your finished runner is beautiful Tanyia! The echo quilting has done a fabulous job of highlighting that design. Now that your Plus quilt is basted, do you have any ideas for the quilting? Can't wait to see what you do. Love, love, love those Cathedral windows. Looks like fun!
