This second two page layout is from March 14th to the 20th.

Project Life - My Way! Feb 27th to March 5th

Happy Sunday, y'all, and Happy Mother's Day for those of you that are mommys! <3 I just want to pop in and share the next layout in my PL series. Then I think I am off to make my kids clean the house for me and sew! Sounds like a perfect Mother's Day to me! Yay!

I really love the way this spread came out. Something about the extra pics or all the painty splatters... I am just diggin it! :)

Ok, that's it for today! Wish me luck with sewing! I have no idea what I am doing yet, but with all the finished I had had lately I think it's time to start something new!

Project Life - My Way! Feb 21st to 26th

Here it is, another week of Project Life - My Way... well almost a week.

I just love the way this one looks! And those green beans I canned... half gone already! The family loves them :) Now that makes me proud!

I love the way this week's spread turned out. I think it is something about the colors, that dark blue really pops for me.

Of course maybe it's the chevron or the rainbow or my cute doggie! Who knows, but I am digging it! :)

Project Life - My Way! Feb 15th to Feb 20th

So, I have not shared them here is a bit, but I have been keeping up in my Project Life pages! So I wanted to share them now and show what I have been up to! I am still taking it easy, no pressure, just putting up all my pics with the daily journaling and what ever fits on a double page spread fits. I love how much more relaxed this has made things for me and I really love the focus on the journaling as well.

Here is the double page spread:

the left side, close up

the right side, close up

and I will try to get more posted to share soon! So I won't be so far behind! lol

So is anyone else doing Project Life? I know I have seen a few posts here and there. If not Project Life per say is there any memory keeping projects that you are working on? I would love to hear about it!

Project Life - My Way! Feb 10th -14th

Happy Sunday! It is crazy weather here today. It was gorgeous and sun shiny, then dark and stormy, then it started hailing. It is always funny to see it hail here when it is almost 80 degrees lol. I, of course, video taped it and its on IG if ya wanna see. The girls thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. My dog, however, was shaking and hiding under my sewing table! This double page layout was done last week so I thought I should share it already! Lol

So far I appear to be keeping up with PL pretty well! I have all the pics for every day posted with journaling ready up til today.
Now, I am off  to work on the next one a bit!

Project Life - My Way! week 5

I think I have come to another decision as to how to make this work better for me in my own style. Usually each two page spread is a week. Hence, week 1, 2, 3, etc... but it is irking me that there are 7 photos to go on those two page and then I have to decide which page gets an extra pic and then I also have no other room for cards with sayings  or cute things and I have to have so many small pics instead of all big ones if I want, etc...

So, I will keep each two page spread matching so it looks better but I am going to simply put whatever fits on those two pages and not worry about having a whole week stuffed in there. I mean... each photo is dated and its all in order anway...

I feel much less stressed about it and my anal retentiveness can take a break since its not all even and all fitting. I can just let go and enjoy it. So, here is my week 5 which is the last spread with a whole week in it.

I did hardly any sewing this weekend and a lot of scrapping, so I might share more of that tomorrow lol. What have you been up to this weekend?

Project Life - My Way! week 4

This week has been off to a crazy busy start! I was out almost all day yesterday and in a few minutes I am off for errands, taxi service and then back home for maid service... the many hats I wear! lol Of course I put them off for so long so I can sew and scrapbook, but once in awhile I need to a responsible adult, dammit! *pout*

So I am just popping in to share week 4 of my Projecl Life. So far so good. I have kept up with a photo a day all Jan and my layouts are current! Now, if only I can keep it up! I am gonna look at one week at a time otherwise I am going to be overwhelmed with the whole year!

the double page spread:

and each side a little closer:

...and that was the last week in this household! :) So far this week has a lot of boring pics lol but that is ok because not everyday is a thrill ride in life!

Have a wonderful day and hopefully I will have time to sit down tomorrow and enjoy the WIP hop!

Project Life -My Way! week 3

So far, so good... week 3 done! Week 4 will be ending tomorrow and then I can scrap that as well :)

I would be more impressed, but it's only week 3 lol! If I can get past 27 this time we are good to go.

Speaking of 27... I am not sure what to do with last year's ... whether I should print the 27 weeks I do have or just nix it altogether. Decisions... decisions.

I wish I were sewing today but there is too much crappy housework to be done around here. Darnnit. I would much rather be sewing lol. I am making something yummy though, and I look forward to sharing that soon!

Project Life - My Way! Week 1

Ok, here it is! My week one layout for Project Life - My Way!

and a closer look at each side :)

I love the way it is coming together and I like it much most than the super busy way it was last year. Now, wish me luck that I can keep up! Week 2 is done now and scrapped and week 3 is ending today, so I can start on that tomorrow.

In the mean time I am starting a new mini sewing project! What are you up to today?

Project Life - My Way!

If you have been around my blog for awhile you know that I also do a lot of digital scrapbooking.

So, here is my story of how I do Project Life, which is not in the traditional sense, but it is in a way that finally works for me.

In 2012 I started with p365. If you are not familiar with that it is a picture a day, every day, for the whole year. Now towards the middle of the year I did loose steam and lost a few weeks but a friend encouraged me to pick back up and keep going and that is just what I did. Thankfully at the end of the year I had a great set of photo memories of the year and on New Year's Eve we sat down and watched a slide show on our TV of the past year and it was almost magical. The whole enjoyed it and it really gave us a sense of closure to the year and we were all looking forward to doing it again.

Now, with those p365 photo I did p52. Which is a scrapbook layout for every week of the year, ending with 52 layouts for you in your album. This book is something I will always treasure. Here are a couple double page spreads to show you how I did it. Each side is a week's worth of photos and journaling as to what went on that week.

Now in 2013, Project Life was a HUGE hit and I decided to give it a go and try that method. Thinking it must be about the same, weekly layouts, etc...

Well, that is not really how it worked out for me. Project Life is a lot of ephemera and add ons and even when people do it digitally they try to print it out and hybrid it combining both digital and physcial supplies and it is SO OVERHWHELMING I can not even tell you. Wat it did was it completely sapped the love of scrapbooking right out of me. I scrap book for the memories, for my children and I found myself not even wanting to open Photoshop.

One problem I found was that in without the mindset of p365 (a pic a day) I would sit down to do a weekly layout and not have enough photos some weeks. I would not remember everything we did that week. I would have to scroll through facebook sometimes just to see status updates to remind me of what the heck was going on. Also... I felt like the layout were just TOO busy, too much. Here is a look at my PL style layouts.

In the end I made it to week 27 and quit. I was so sad really as I ended up with no book for last year and so this year I have taken matters in to my own hands. I have come up with a hybrid of my own so to speak.

I am doing p365 again, making sure that I take a photo a day and journal every day with the photos. I think that journaling is really important because we may remember at the end of the year what was going on in these photos, but five, ten, even fifteen years from now who knows.

So, I am going to combine the loads of journaling with the pics for every day and do it in this pocket style format instead of the scrapbook layout traditional style and see if that works better for me.

My goal is to see it through again all year! If you follow me on instagram (tanyiadeskins) then you will see most of my pictures. Some get taken with the big camera, most do not. I will be posting my weekly layouts here as well and I want to be accountable somewhere to getting them done and sticking with it!

Have you ever scrapbooked? Have you ever tried the p365 or any other year long memory keeping projects? I would love to follow your progress as well, if you do! Just leave me a link!

I have week one and two of my layouts done so I will be posting those soon as well!
