WIP Wednesday - March 11th

http://www.freshlypieced.com/

This is the WIP post with the terrible, no good, crappy pics, so please excuse them today lol. I did get a good amount done this week, though, and feel productive :)

I finished my mini log cabin mini teehee for my cotton and steel swap partner. I am keeping the finished pic for after she receives it... which is not til June I think. I hate waiting lol.

I made my first ever pin cushion. It is a bit wonky, and the hand stitching to close it is abysmal, but darnnit I did it and I think it's cute! <3 I really need to learn how to hand stitch better though!

I finished the ticker tape table topper I made for my mom. I think it turned out pretty cute and I think she will like it. It was fun to try something new. Oh that and the pin cushion is two new things this week!

Then on Monday I started on my next swap project which is for the Viva La Villains Swap on Instagram. I like doing these swaps because it helps stretch my creativity. Makes me maybe go somewhere I would not have gone otherwise. Hopefully this will play well with the rest of my theme... think the Red Queen from Alice. Shhh....

Ok, off til next week. I have one more letter to do!

WIP Wednesday - March 4th

Seriously... March 4th edition of WIP Wedesday? How on earth did it get to be March already! I am completely unsure. It really is true, as you age the time just seems to go by so much quicker. Not that I am ancient or anything lol but I can tell the difference from when I was in my 20's that is for sure.  So far, being 40 is not so bad, though :)

This week was pretty busy and fun! Here is what I have been working on:

I am working on a Cotton and Steel mini for the Cotton and Steel Mini Quilt Swap taking place on Instagram. I am not allowed to mail this before June 12th I think so I am setting this aside for now to piece together later. I like the way the mini blocks came out, though. I used a mini 3in block pattern from Wombat Quilts. I am so appreciative when people share patterns as not all of us can afford to buy them whenever we want.

This is the finished mini/swap I made for my LPS Disney Craft Swap on Instagram. Someone commented on how they felt inferior because they could not send that many extras... I do not always either but I lucked out at the dollar for half of the things there. It is not about how much you send, think... be creative. Not everything has to cost a lot. This will have a separate post and I will share better pics of the mini.

I won a giveaway on Instagram of green scraps from Fort Worth Studio Fabrics, and I started a ticker tape table topper for my mom. I was going to make it for myself, but all those beautiful greens are just screaming my mom's name as it is her favorite color! I had always wanted to try a ticker tape style and it is certainly fun and easy. I love how it is coming out. I should be able to bind it today.

That's it for me! I am hoping to come up with an idea for the Viva La Villains Swap, and learn how to draft the pattern I want to do for it. I might pull out my selvedges and do some more blocks that I am collecting as I am over flowing in selvedges right now lol. Also I am going to the Sewing and Quilt Expo in Lakeland, Florida this Friday so I am looking forward to shopping and finding some new inspiration there!

Have a great week :)

WIP Wednesday - Feb 25th

http://www.freshlypieced.com/2015/02/wip-wednesday-home-again.html

I have had a pretty good week since last week. I had a busy weekend with the husband, a fun day trip with the kids, my eldest finally got a full time job! Whew...sigh of relief is going on over here.

These two Union Jack blocks were paper pieced, they were for this month's Queen Bee, Carla of Granny Maud's Girl.  Next month will be my month and then we will be done with this bee. I am sad. I had trouble keeping up in the middle of it but now that I am back I would love for it to have continued.

This is my finished paper piece for the Lollypop Stitches Disney Craft Swap on Instagram. I am not sharing the front or fully finished piece until my partner receives it. I am loving how it is going though.

This is the back of a personal swap... I had to share the back as well because I am so in love with this fabric.

The front of the personal swap piece. It is a tad wonky but made with so much love <3 I used a pattern from Jeli Quilts called the Goose Dash. I LOVE it!

That's it for me. I am working on finishing up that Disney piece today so I can hopefully mail it next week when I have some extra money :) I hope my partner loves it as much as I have loved making it for her.

WIP Wednesday - Feb 18th

http://www.freshlypieced.com/2015/02/wip-wednesday-off-to-austin.html

Whew, I have a lot going on this week. I am finally catching up on my Compass Quilters Bee Blocks, due to my absence. I am still needing to do this month's blocks but I have til the end of the month and then I will bee Queen in March and that will be the end of our little Bee. I have done these two

I have made a bit of progress on my cross stitch as well, it is looking cute I think. I love the patterns from Clouds Factory!

I have started on a mini paper pieced quilt I am making for the Lollypop Stitches Disney Craft Swap taking place on Instagram, I am working on a piece from Fandom in Stitches of Sully from Monsters Inc, this is what I have so far, it is the most in depth paper piecing I have done so I am taking it slow.

I also just boxed up my finished swap for the mug rug swap, here is what my partner is getting. I hope she likes it, I also included some fabrics.

Next I am about to start on a mini for a personal swap. I am making a friend a mini and she is knitting me some socks! I can not wait! I also am entertaining ideas for the Cotton and Steel Mini Swap and the Broadway mini Swap... both of which are on Instagram as well. That's all for now, off I go to work on that personal mini for awhile.

Happy Wednesday!

WIP Wednesday - Feb 11th

http://www.freshlypieced.com/

Happy Wednesday :) I am so so happy... I would be doing a happy dance if I wasn't stuck in a recliner with a heating pad for hurting my back! lol I finished my Feathers quilt for my youngest daughter. She is so thrilled with it and it makes me such a proud mama to see her so happy with something that I put so much effort and time into for her. I love paper piecing as well so doing a whole quilt that way was awesome! Such accuracy, much wow!

She picked the fabric line Rock n Romance for it and I suggested this Alison Glass "Feathers" pattern which she loved. I had the top done some time last year and of course it was a UFO for awhile. Whew, I currently have no more tops waiting now for quilting. I also did a scrappy binding on this one which was the first time I did that and I LOVE it! <3

I also completed a mug rug for my partner in the Fort Worth Fabric Spring Mug Rug Swap. This was the first mug rug I have done. ... also the first applique ... also the first embroidery... and I think it shows a but. Its a bit wonky and the top is not completely flat (obviously lol) but you know what I am still proud of it! It was a cute pattern I got at Craftsy. I think I will enjoy learning more about embroidery. Hopefully my partner won't hate it lol.

Lastly, I started a new cross stitch, since my back is hurting and I am sitting... I can not stand not doing something! So I am working on an American Horror Story cross stitch for my middle child. The pattern is from Clouds Factory.

And that has been my week! I plan on starting a Disney mini for the Lollypop Stitches Disney Craft swap I am doing on IG. I am also researching ideas for the Cotton  and Steel Mini Swap which I will start after the Disney one. I am going in order of when they are due to be shipped. I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else has been up to :)

WIP Wednesday: Feb 4th

http://www.freshlypieced.com/
Fresh Poppy Design

I forgot completely to post last week, but I did get my Magnolia Bud mini quilt done. The paper pieced pattern was super easy and straight forward... reminding me why I love paper piecing so much! I think it turned out lovely and it will make a nice RAK for a friend.

The other thing I started this week was quilting my daughter's quilt, which is the Alison Glass "Feathers" pattern quilt that I finished last year. It feels so good to be making progress! It is almost done being quilted so hopefully I can get that bound and done by next week!

On a side note my daughter has decided she wants to make me a quilt since I am always making them for other people. So, little by little she is sitting next to me working on it. She just started piecing. She is 16 so she is plenty old enough and capable but her ADHD prevents her from doing too much at a time. I told her to take her time and enjoy it. She is going to do a plus quilt but in QAYG blocks as she doesn't want to struggle with the bulk. Wish us luck. Maybe next week there will be some progress from her so I can share it :)

Happy Wednesday!

WIP- the one where I am back and finally did something!

http://www.freshlypieced.com/2015/01/wip-wednesday-modern-maples.html

http://quiltartdesigns.blogspot.com/2015/01/paper-piecing-party-3.html

Well... I have finally returned and finally started some sewing again! It felt great, too! I started the Star Surround quilt along with Melissa at Happy Quilting on time, finished the top on time... and then set it aside. I am sure you know how that goes. Finally I am done! I am so happy about it, too. It fueled me into doing some actually sewing again. Not all the time mind, not all or nothing, but adding it in to my day here and there as I can. I think that is working better for me as well. I seem to be more productive!

So here is the front of my Star Surround (there was one flying geese that is facing the wrong way but I did not notice it until it was quilted darnnit! Oh well, its only for me)

and the back... I hadn't lint rolled it yet so excuse the thread and fuzz from the cats lol

Even though I bought a FMQ class during a Craftsy sale I still have not ventured in to FMQ, so this is all straight line echo quilting, but it was the most intricate I have done so far and I love it :)

Terrible lighting on this one, but it was taken at night. I started a mini with a mini paper pieced pattern I got at a quilt show last year. This is a RAK for a friend. Just need to put it together now!

That's it, but I am off to a good start again and boy does it feel good! :)

WIP Wednesday - August 6th

http://www.freshlypieced.com/2014/08/wip-wednesday-with-guest-host-cori-from.html

http://sewfreshquilts.blogspot.com/2014/08/lets-bee-social-32.html

I am joining the WIP Wednesday hop with Lee from Freshly Pieced and the Let's Bee Social hop at Sew Fresh Quilts. My two favorite hops! Here is what I have been up to this week:

I finished my triangle blocks from last week, but sadly have not started this week's yet :( I have a feeling I may have some catching up to do next week!

I started some Bee Blocks for a new bee I am in and these turned in to these

which turned in to these

Now I just need to put them together in to two blocks. Some people are having sizing issues though so I am a little bit nervous to see how I did ...wish me luck! lol

WIP Wednesday - July 30th

http://sewfreshquilts.blogspot.com/2014/07/lets-bee-social-31.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+SewFreshQuilts+%28Sew+Fresh+Quilts%29

Happy hump day! There is no official WIP post at Freshly pieced this week but I am playing along again anyway :) I am also playing along in the Let's Bee Social hop at Sew Fresh Quilts.

I really did not get very much done this week. It is getting closer and closer to school starting so we have been busy, only 12 days to go here and 19 for college for the eldest. I did sneak in some sewing though :)

I made very little progress on my Quilty Stitches sampler, but some progress is better than none. That's my story and I am sticking to it!

I finished week 2 triangles for the Tessellation SAL project. I had to grab an instagram pic as I got a new phone and I guess I didn't save the original photo! doh! I love the way these look!

This is the week 3 triangles, I really like them. I have 2 of 15 done so far lol, a bit of a ways to go!

Hopefully this coming week will be a little more productive. I hope to at least get these triangles done but I seem to be a slow paper piecer!

What are you all up to?! Can't wait to see!

WIP Wednesday - July 23rd

http://www.freshlypieced.com/

I know there is technically no WIP today but darnnit I am sharing anyway because for the first time in weeks I actually did something... and it's still summer even! lol

I joined the Tessellation SAL from Sew Sweetness, using the gorgeous Tessellation pattern from Allison Glass. This is my second pattern from her and I absolutely love her patterns!

So far we cut out the triangles for triangle A for week 1

I really need a different sewing table because this gray background messes with my photos! Its the purple pack of FQs from Kona. I believe its called Purple People Eater.

For week 2 we are assembling the B triangles. I am half way done with them, they each need two more fabrics.

I have also been working on my Quilty Stitches stitch along, and I am loving the progress!

So, I am off now. I want to finish these B triangles as the girls and I will be gone all weekend and I want to stay on time! Happy sewing!

I am also playing along for the first time in
