WIP Wednesday - March 4th

Seriously... March 4th edition of WIP Wedesday? How on earth did it get to be March already! I am completely unsure. It really is true, as you age the time just seems to go by so much quicker. Not that I am ancient or anything lol but I can tell the difference from when I was in my 20's that is for sure.  So far, being 40 is not so bad, though :)

This week was pretty busy and fun! Here is what I have been working on:

I am working on a Cotton and Steel mini for the Cotton and Steel Mini Quilt Swap taking place on Instagram. I am not allowed to mail this before June 12th I think so I am setting this aside for now to piece together later. I like the way the mini blocks came out, though. I used a mini 3in block pattern from Wombat Quilts. I am so appreciative when people share patterns as not all of us can afford to buy them whenever we want.

This is the finished mini/swap I made for my LPS Disney Craft Swap on Instagram. Someone commented on how they felt inferior because they could not send that many extras... I do not always either but I lucked out at the dollar for half of the things there. It is not about how much you send, think... be creative. Not everything has to cost a lot. This will have a separate post and I will share better pics of the mini.

I won a giveaway on Instagram of green scraps from Fort Worth Studio Fabrics, and I started a ticker tape table topper for my mom. I was going to make it for myself, but all those beautiful greens are just screaming my mom's name as it is her favorite color! I had always wanted to try a ticker tape style and it is certainly fun and easy. I love how it is coming out. I should be able to bind it today.

That's it for me! I am hoping to come up with an idea for the Viva La Villains Swap, and learn how to draft the pattern I want to do for it. I might pull out my selvedges and do some more blocks that I am collecting as I am over flowing in selvedges right now lol. Also I am going to the Sewing and Quilt Expo in Lakeland, Florida this Friday so I am looking forward to shopping and finding some new inspiration there!

Have a great week :)

My turn to Bee Queen!

I am so glad I finally got caught up with bee blocks for the Compass Quilters Bee... I really hated being so far behind. Sadly I got caught up just in time for the bee to end darnnit. No I will be Bee less next month :(

For this month though I have picked a really super dee duper cute little block that I would love as I would like to start collecting them for a quilt. This will give me the nudge I needed to get going on it myself!

I am not writing up a tutorial as it has been done perfectly already! I want Polaroid blocks! :)

http://my-crafty-crap.blogspot.com/2011/12/polaroid-quilt-block.html

This picture is NOT mine. It is from the blog My Crafty Crap and is here to lead you to her amazing tutorial and paper pieced pattern to ease the way of making this little cutie! Here is a direct link to her tutorial post http://my-crafty-crap.blogspot.com/2011/12/polaroid-quilt-block.html

There is no inch marker on the template download but the center square should be a 2.5 inch square so that will help to make sure it has been printed properly. The only difference I am asking is to please not trim down the white polaroid sides once you have added them and send as it as is, leaving the background spaces on the template empty so that I can make sure it all matches.

So all I am asking for is a cute fabric surrounded with the white. It should be easy, quick, and fun! If you have any questions feel free to shoot me an email or just comment here.

If you are reading this and not in the bee with us,, you should give this a go, it is SO SEW cute!

WIP Wednesday - Feb 25th

http://www.freshlypieced.com/2015/02/wip-wednesday-home-again.html

I have had a pretty good week since last week. I had a busy weekend with the husband, a fun day trip with the kids, my eldest finally got a full time job! Whew...sigh of relief is going on over here.

These two Union Jack blocks were paper pieced, they were for this month's Queen Bee, Carla of Granny Maud's Girl.  Next month will be my month and then we will be done with this bee. I am sad. I had trouble keeping up in the middle of it but now that I am back I would love for it to have continued.

This is my finished paper piece for the Lollypop Stitches Disney Craft Swap on Instagram. I am not sharing the front or fully finished piece until my partner receives it. I am loving how it is going though.

This is the back of a personal swap... I had to share the back as well because I am so in love with this fabric.

The front of the personal swap piece. It is a tad wonky but made with so much love <3 I used a pattern from Jeli Quilts called the Goose Dash. I LOVE it!

That's it for me. I am working on finishing up that Disney piece today so I can hopefully mail it next week when I have some extra money :) I hope my partner loves it as much as I have loved making it for her.
