Grownup Mac n Cheese

This recipe is nothing seriously unusual. It just gives a little sophisticated twist to Mac n Cheese! It is really yummy and the hubbs, the kids, and the dog all devoured it...said it was the best mac n cheese and begged me to add it to my recipe box! :)

Grown-Up Mac n Cheese

4c heavy cream
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary, chopped
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 package of precooked bacon, chopped
2lb macaroni, cooked
8oz shredded Gruyere
8oz shredded Fontina

Add to a medium saucepan the cream, rosemary, chopped bacon, salt
and pepper. Bring to a light boil (careful not to scald or boil over) stir frequently
and keep at a low boil until the cream thickens. It takes around a half an hour, just be
patient and keep your eye on it, remembering to stir.

Once your pasta is cooked and drained, and the sauce has thickened add the cheese to the
sauce, take off the heat and stir until all the cheese fully melts and incorporates.
Add to the cheese cause to the macaroni and stir to evenly coat. Serve immediately.

This is also great the next day, and if you freeze it it keeps well.

Enjoy and have a happy Saturday everyone! I have some cleaning to do today and some sewing to get a move on!

  1. sounds delish. I'm going to bookmark it so that I can try cook it for my family. We are big mac and cheese fans! Thanks for sharing.

  2. haven't had mac and cheese in a long time. YUMMMY

  3. looks delish! i've made a mac and cheese with the gruyere before but it didn't really stand out to me (martha stewart recipe).

  4. Okay. Yum. The Recipe starts with 4 cups heavy cream, and I want to eat some now.

This is not good. I broke my foot and I cannot do anything, let alone workout, I decided that I have to watch what I put in my mouth. No delicious mac and cheese for me.

  5. how can anyone go wrong with bacon?! ::drools::
