WIP Wednesday - July 31st Edition

Happy Happy Wednesday! I have been busy this week, whew! Well, busy making a lot of mistakes... but still busy! hehe. My seam ripper and I have a love hate relationship, I am sure I told you all about this before. At least she always saves my arse... yes, it's a she cause she is pink! lol

I already shared this, this week in it's own post but I love it so much I want to share again darnnit lol ...this is the August block for the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild... she has a bit of a thin forehead, or skinny bangs or something going on lol. This is my first improv block and I have to say, I am a huge fan!

Then I did the shattered chevron block for the Skill Builder BOM... I love how this block looks but I will never ever ever ever EVER make another one.. It was my own stupidity really, first I measured wrong then I sewed wrong, then I had to rip out 64 seams....64! :( Ugh, glad it is over. I do not even care that it does not meet up in spots at this point...just done lol

Then for a quilt break I made a cute little fabric storage box out of some Amy Butler fabric I have had laying around forever! I found THIS tutorial on Pinterest and gave it a go!

Then I made all my HSTs for the Star Surround QAL ...144 of them, oh, just love all that trimming!

Finally, last night ...in an hour, I gave another Pinterest tut a go! I found this cute wristlet tutorial HERE. It was my first wristlet...and again used up some yummy Amy Butler fabrics! This came from a FQ bundle I had won last year. I so LOVE the blues! Wow, that gray table lends for some horrible colors! lol. I think I will reblog this purse and the tutorial and such another day as well. I also want to share the couple my daughter made.

Andddd that is is, other than the fact that I did get one of my UFOs quilted this week as well. I guess the sewing bug bit me hard! Wow! I love it!

I can not wait to see what you all have been up to!

  1. Hi Tanyia--I'm a Florida quilter, too! I love the black with red and orange--sorry to hear about the seam ripping--are you going to make something with the block?

  2. Wow you got a lot done! The cool part is once you are done, no one need know whether or not Ms.Seam ripper was even involved.

  10. Ok, that is a crazy amount of persistence to rip out all those seams, but I have to say that I love the colors in that finished shattered chevron block. And, I think your improv block is adorable.
